One Tree Hill is a series related to the incidents that take place in the state of North Carolina in a fictional town called Tree Hill. This series is shown on WB. The struggle for prominence, jealousy, rivalry between two half brothers, agonies of a single mother, love of two talented players for the same girl, overall teenage emotions are the subject matter of this series.
Dan Scott and Lucas’s mother Karen were romantically involved in high school. One day Karen came to know that she is carrying Dan’s baby. Dan refuses to take the responsibility and went to pursue his career to college getting a basketball scholarship abandoning Karen to raise their son Lucas all by herself. However his basketball career didn’t work out well and he returned to Tree Hill only to marry a woman called Deb whom he met at college. Dan started a car business and became successful in it. In the mean time Deb gives birth to Dan’s son Nathan.
Both the half brothers carry the legacy of their father and become good players in basketball. The main difference is, Nathan used to play in the school and Lucas was the master in the streets. Peyton Sawyer is the love interest of Nathan, who is a pretty blonde cheerleader of the school. But Peyton heart goes to Lucas as she is well aware about the mental agony of a child of a single parent, as she had lost her mother at a very early age. Lucas starts to get attracted towards Peyton. Their closeness increases the tension between Nathan and Lucas.
When Dan left Karen, his elder brother Keith helped her a lot and now Lucas works in the garage owned by Keith. Keith has become a father figure to Lucas. He tells the basketball coach of the school Whitey to associate Lucas with the school team. Whitey recognizes Lucas’s talent and offers him in vein to join the school team. But Lucas’s friend Skills convinces him to join the school team.
Day by day Lucas makes a name of himself in the school making Nathan more and more jealous. At last Nathan challenges Lucas in a one on one game. The condition is that if Lucas looses he has to quit the school basketball team. But Lucas turns down the challenge. Later on Lucas and Nathan have a one on one but the condition now comes from Lucas. He tells Nathan to leave Peyton if he loses. In the game Lucas defeats Nathan.
He said that If Lucas loses then he has to quit the school team. Lucas denies for the game. But after some time he changes his mindset and goes for the challenge with a condition of his own. He said to Nathan that if he wins then he will get Peyton. The game starts and when it was over Lucas smiles as the winner. Lucas joins the school team and in his first game his mother didn’t turn up as she was trying to avoid Dan. With a low spirit Lucas performed badly in the game. This pleases Nathan very much and he starts to make fun out of Lucas. Lucas decides to quit the team but his mother and a friend called Jake made him understand not to be a loser and give up to Dan and Nathan. In a game later on Lucas becomes the key winning factor. His success enraged Nathan and he tried every mean to stop his half brother but Lucas never succumbs to the odds.
The creator of One Tree Hill is Mark Schwahn who is able to touch the young minds and gives a fiction, liked by most of the youngsters.
