The sport of mixed martials arts is growing faster than any other sport today. The big names of MMA are enjoying quite a bit of celebrity and are so familiar that many fans know them on first names bases. Knowing that MMA has already nearly bankrupted pro boxing, many fight fans are eager to get behind the exciting sport of MMA.
With many Christian MMA fighters and the vast majority of Americans claiming to be Christians, it is not difficult to understand why they develop such a following. Not to mention, the tough guy image of many MMA fighters is a draw to just about any person who views them self as tough, but many Christians like the image of toughness, but without the connotations that frequently go with the image.
More than a few MMA fighters have been reported to hang out at Hugh Heffners mansion and some Christian MMA fans take issue with that and do not tend to support those fighters as much. Most Christians do not want to line themselves up with someone who participates in the types of behaviors Christians consider deviant or sinful.
As with many people, Christians also tend to be alienated by drug use and abuse as well. MMA fighters frequently resort to using any drug that will give them an advantage including steroids. Since the steroid industry is continually developing ways to help athletes cheat the testing systems designed to discover their use, it tends to get increasingly difficult to detect them. Most Christians would tend to shy away from wearing clothes that depicted any obvious sexual or drug oriented portrayal.
Most MMA fighters who are known Christians do wear clothing, and exhibit behavior that lines up with the expectations of any Christian. With fighters like Diego Sanchez, Anderson Silva and Fedor Emilianenko as faithful Christians, nearly every fight fan would enjoy wearing clothing featuring them.
